He was born in 1966 in Ankara. He recieved his primary, secondary and high school education at Fevzi Atlıoğlu İlkokulu, İncirli Ortaokulu, and Ankara Kız Lisesi respectively. He started his undergraduate studies at Hacettepe University, Computer Science and Engineering Department in 1983. He successfully completed this department in 1988 and started his graduate studies at the Computer Engineering department, Middle East Technical University (METU). Same year, after being successful in a nationwide exam, he was granted scholarships from the Ministry of National Education, and was entitled to study for a Master's and a Doctorate abroad.
Dr. Aslan received his M.Sc. degree in 1991 from University of Southern California (USC), Computer Science department, and his Ph.D. degree from the same university (USC) in 1998. He continued his PostDoc studies at the same university.
Entering the industry in 1998, Affinity Media Inc. (Adventive Technologies Inc.) He worked as a "Senior Software Engineer". Between 1999 and 2011, he worked as a Senior Application Engineer and then "Manager of Application Engineering" at Warner Bros Online/Time Warner.
Returning home in 2012, Dr. Aslan worked as an Assistant Professor at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Computer Engineering between 2014 and 2017. Dr. Aslan started to work at Antalya Bilim University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Computer Engineering in 2019. He is still working at the same university as an Assistant Professor.
Fluent in English and intermediate in Russian, Dr. Aslan's research interests include Database Interoperability, Distributed Databases, Database (Schema) Integration, Database Schema Evolution, Data Warehousing, Scientific Databases, Distributed Computing and Internet (CORBA, HADOOP), No-SQL Databases.
