The students learn how to pronounce syllables and tones correctly in Mandarin Chinese. They can form simple sentences with nouns and verbs by using basic everyday expressions. They can use and understand the positive-negative and the question sentences.  They can introduce themselves and others (e.g. family members and classmates). They can count the numbers from 1 to 99. They start to learn the usages of “Measure Words” in a correct way. They can express the dates and the times.

CHI 202

The students are expected to improve their speaking and writting skills that are required in daily life. They can describe their surroundings by using the words of location and direction. They can order food and drinks. They learn to count numbers over 100. They can shop and express money patterns. They learn Chinese patterns related to money exhange. They can form compound sentences with the words transportation / vehicles.  

CHI 301

It is expected to understand texts related to education and professional life or everyday topics. They can form simple sentences with basic conjuctions. They can express the prepositions such as “in, on, at, with, to, from” in  English in a regular way in Chinese languge. They learn the present continuous tense pattern and talk about hobbies. They can make sentences by using some auxiliary verbs. They can describe places with direction words. They can talk about their daily activities with the structure “before … then …”.

CHI 302

They can talk about the subjects that correspond to the basic needs. They can express sentences related to hospital and illness. They can ask and answer someone’s age, height and weight. They learn how to make comparisons for people and objects. They can express past tense patterns.
